![]() Primary Grades Coordinator: Rachael Nelson FALL EDUCATION SCHEDULE - 2008-2009:
First Communion Class Offered: The first of two options for the First Communion Milestone is being offered on Friday, October 24 from 5-9 pm AND Saturday, October 25 from 10am-2pm. Parents and students (Grade 3 and older) must attend BOTH session and will gain an understanding of the Sacrament of the Lords Supper. Students choosing this session will receive their First Communion on Sunday, November 2. You must pre-register to attend this class. Please contact Lisa in the Discipleship Ministries Office and let her know how many parents will be attending with each child. There will be a $10 charge/child to help pay for Friday evening dinner and Saturday lunch. This Milestone will also be offered in the spring, with classes on April 3 & 4 and celebration on Maundy Thursday, April 9. 4th & 5th Grade Service Milestone: Serving God's people and God's creation is an important part of being a Disciple of Jesus Christ. Students in 4th and 5th Grade and their parents are encouraged to attend this Milestone to be held from 10am-12pm on November 8. After a some combined instruction, 4th and 5th graders will be split into age groups. The 4th graders will discover how God has gifted them specifically to provide vital service in theis congregation and the community. 5th graders will have an opportunity to be trained as an acolyte, usher, communion server or reader. After this Milestone, 5th grade students can sign up to serve in any or all of these positions. Please RSVP to Lisa in the Discipleship Office if you plan to attend this Milestone. An accurate count is needed to ensure that all children are able to participate on hands-on service that day. Tweens Meet for Goofy Games on November 2: 5th and 6th grade students, here is your opportunity to play, get to know new friends and make a huge mess! Wear old clothes and meet from 3-5pm on Sunday, November 2 for some serious fun and awesome games! Sign up on the Discipleship Bulletin Board or contact Rachael to attend. Sunday School Christmas Program: Christmas is just around the corner and we will soon be beginning work on the Sunday School Christmas Program. If you are interested in any aspect of the event: coaching actors, creating costumes, supervising children, designing or making sets, publicity or music, please let Rachael know by October 20. We will meet the week of October 26 to do our preliminary planning. The program will be presented on December 13 at 5:00 pm. |
